A survey on Flickr multimedia research challenges

چکیده

Multimedia content shared within social networks has become one of the most interesting research fields in the last few years. This paper investigates how this undoubted emerge in enriched, geo-tagged multimedia content has evolved over time within the humanistic framework of the Flickr social network and summarizes numerous content mining techniques in the process. It attempts also to identify whether this explosion works to the benefit of social network users and whether it could be handled in a formal way, in order to capture meaningful semantics rising from the introduced user experience. It further specializes its focus by providing an overview of current state-of-theart approaches with respect to interesting humanistic data collection and interpretation research fields, such as multimedia information retrieval, (semi-) automatic tag manipulation, travel applications, semantic knowledge extraction, human activity tracking, as well as related benchmarking efforts.
